The House of Tropical Hues

This 650 sft. home for a young couple located in the western suburbs of Bombay was designed as a refuge from the chaos and busyness of the city. Located on the 22nd floor of a large apartment complex, the home soars above the streets of Bombay below and allows the clients to disconnect from the city yet allowing for views of the city and the sea in the far distance.

The two bedroom apartment was a first home bought by the clients, a pair of young lawyers who wanted to use the home to welcome family and entertain friends. The home was a typical dull beige and white apartment provided by the builder which we were tasked to design into a comfortable and loving home.

The home is designed as a crucible of the client's collective memories and travels which have all finally found a home to come back to. The clients wanted the home to be place of fun and a post-covid safe haven. The living and dining space come together through the use of foliage prints and indoor plants that are brought together by the warm tones of the veneer and the colour in the furnishings. The bedroom acts as a place of refuge with rattan furniture that transports one to the tropics.
