A small project with a large heart, the micro apartment was a conversion of a single room and kitchen space with a total area of 400 sft. in a suburb of Bombay into a one bedroom apartment with a separate living, kitchen and a small sit-out space. The project was designed for an elderly person and with an almost non-existent budget and on a tight timeline.
Designed to provide privacy and separate spaces for the octogenarian and his caregiver who shared the space with him, the design challenge was to bring light and love into a dark and dank space that had been lying unused for a long time and convert it into a comfortable and sheltered home. The budget was controlled with the use of re-purposed existing old furniture and sourcing of old furniture from various furniture markets in Bombay.
